Description
Hristo Kazashki was born on 5 October 1947 in the village of Galiche, Vratsa Province. A journalist with many years of experience in the print and television media. The first freelance correspondent of the BBC for Bulgaria — 1989–1993. Author of the books "Buyko, the Rebel with a Great Heart" — 2013, "Vratsa — Times and People" — 2015, "The BBC, Bulgaria, the Transition" — 2016. His fourth book of journalism in a row, "Bulgaria Is Dying Quietly," is the fruit of nearly a year spent by the author gathering the sad facts and experiences of Bulgarians of pension age from different parts of the country. A book in which the author rings the bell in alarm, that Bulgaria is passing away. And at the same time he is horrified by the thought of whether we, the Bulgarians of today, are not the last living witnesses of an approaching terrible national catastrophe. In "Bulgaria Is Dying Quietly" Hristo Kazashki also does not leave out a report, passed over in silence by those in power, delivered about three years ago by the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Mr. Johannes Hahn. In the author's view, the great question here is why a document fateful for Bulgaria continues to be hidden from Bulgarian society.
